Eva Mendes Gets Calvin Klein Ad Banned

Topless Eva Mendes Gets Calvin Klein Ad Banned
Latin actress Eva Mendes, or, to be more precise, some parts of her body, had an important role to play, not only in Calvin Klein’s new fragrance ad, branded as Secret Obsession, but possibly also in the failure of the advertisement.
Newsday.com reports that in the commercial for CK’s Secret Obsession, the actress is featured rolling around topless on an unmade bed.
“Between love and madness lies obsession,” Eva says in a lustful tone. “Love…madness. It’s my secret.” So, what’s the problem? Well, the actress starts to caress her breasts and then — ooops! — a little nipple action flashes on the screen.
Most American broadcast networks prefer not to show the commercial, as it would no doubt offend American TV watchers’ prudence. Apparently, the scene with Eva Mendes’ tatas, is too hot also for broadcasting executives.
Yet, it seems that at Calvin Klein, they are not surprised by this ban. New York Daily News reports that Calvin Klein President and COO Tom Murry agreed that network ban is not so unexpected in U.S. broadcasting market.
In ETonline.com Murry said:
“We believe the commercial is exceptional and hits the mark for Secret Obsession”, he added. “We are anticipating a very successful global launch.”
In March of 2008, Eva became the new face of Calvin Klein underwear. Despite the wardrobe malfunction of the Secret Obsession ad, the President of CK continues to admire the talented actress who, as he said, “embodies the essence of CK brand”. The actress also thinks that it’s a honor for her to work with such a “world-class brand like Calvin Klein.
Mendes also sounds off on obstacles she faces as a Latina in Hollywood. Her way of dealing with them? Simple, she just doesn’t pay attention to gossips.
I’m an American girl, born and raised. But I don’t care what people think. I just don’t care.
Ok, now let’s see what is the new fragrance that raised such a ruckus. Secret Obsession‘s bottle gives the impression of original ’80s Obsession, but this fragrance is definitely a new twist on the old with lighter floral and fruity scent. The fragrance includes hints of plum, jasmine, tuberose, woods, amber, vanilla, and sandalwood; it sounds a little more floral and less spicy than the original version.
Since the uncut version of the perfume ad was banned on American TV, Calvin Klein is preparing an edited commercial that will appeal to a larger audience. A cleaned-up version will run on American cable, says the Daily News.
As for me, nothing gets between me and my Calvins…my recommendation?
Calvin Klein Women’s Mix Essentials Short Robe
Best robe I’ve ever owned! Maybe Eva could use one in her next ad.
