Actress Pooja Bedi says she has been asked to refrain from attending the grand finale of Colors’ reality show “Bigg Boss 5″, in which she was a participant.
“Have been informed by channel that I’m not to attend finale, despite it being mandatory in my contract! Wonder why! Any guesses?” Pooja posted on micro-blogging site Twitter.
“Have asked channel to state reason I cannot be there at finale to cheer my friends on! Also, till yesterday I was to do a medley! What changed?” she added.
The actress, daughter of veteran actor Kabir Bedi and Odissi exponent Protima Gauri Bedi, caught limelight for endorsing Kama Sutra in the 1990s, and she went on to be popular for her Marilyn Monroe skirt act in “Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikander”.
Pooja entered the “Bigg Boss 5″ house Oct 2, 2011, and she was evicted towards the end of November.
Recently, the 41-year-old was in spotlight for her comments against “Bigg Boss 5″ host Salman Khan, as she felt he hurt her fellow inmate and friend, Akashdeep Saigal aka Sky.
It is believed that perhaps her comments didn’t go down too well with Salman.
However, in a host of replies to tweets from her fans, Pooja posted: “Never said anything derogatory about channel or production house! And its my perogative to react to contestants or host of my show. If anchors can be unfair or awful to contestants, contestants have a right to speak up in their or their friends defence!”
“I have requested an official explanation from channel, but they haven’t given me one yet! Let them decide how to say it. Channel and production never had issues with any of statements I’ve made! If they had, they’d have intimated me immediately.”
According to a tabloid, even Bollywood star Hrithik Roshan’s plans of promoting Karan Johar’s forthcoming film “Agneepath”, on the show have been scrapped.
It is believed Hrithik and Salman share a cold war ever since the former reacted to Salman’s comments against “Guzaarish” director Sanjay Leela Bhansali. So now, Imran Khan will perhaps attend the finale to promote “Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu”, also produced by Johar.
Post the news, Pooja wrote: “Mumbai Mirror article today! Hrithik not allowed in #BB5 finale! Guess I’m not the only victim! Wow!”
The finale of the reality show is to be held Saturday. Among the final contestants are Juhi Parmar, Amar Upadhyay, Mahek Chahal, Siddharth Bharadwaj and Sky.

Bollywood’s item girl Rakhi Sawant, known for making headlines with bold statements, seems to have taken a fancy for politicians. After confessing she has a soft corner for Rahul Gandhi, she is now praising Raj Thackeray.
“I respect Raj-ji a lot. He is a very good man and his team is equally good. He is doing a great job… He is helping the poor. I always say that Raj-ji is like a brother to me,” the 33-year-old controversy queen said while attending a screening of “Don 2″ along with cancer patients.
“Kehte hain na ki jab seedhi ungli se ghee nahin nikalta hai, toh ungli tedhi karni padti hai, aur koun nahin hai…And I don’t find anything wrong in his conduct,” she added of Maharashtra Navnirman Samiti leader.
Asked if she will tie a rakhi to Raj, she replied: “If bhai (Raj) asks me to come, I will surely go. What is wrong in that? I always send him a rakhi.”
But the actress has no plans to join politics.
“Not at all, I don’t understand politics. I am an artist, a normal artist, a normal human being and I don’t know anything about politics. I don’t think I should ever join that profession. We are artists and our work is to make people laugh. I have to do a lot of work,” said Rakhi, who had a dull 2011 except for TV show “Ghazab Desh Ki Ajab Kahaaniyan”.
Rakhi was last seen in item numbers in films “Rakhtbeej” and “Loot”.

Just what happens to creativity when it comes to titles? From ongoing TV soaps like “Kuch Toh Log Kahenge” and “Bade Acche Lagte Hain” to the forthcoming “Na Bole Tum Na Maine Kuuch Kaha” and “Kya Hua Tera Vaada”, it appears that authors expend all their energy in writing scripts and fall back on well-loved film songs for titles.
Clearly, Hindi movie songs down the ages are the easy inspiration for a host of television serials with the makers also hoping for instant connect.
“Kuch Toh Log Kahenge”, a hit song picturised on Sharmila Tagore and Rajesh Khanna in “Amar Prem”, is now the the title of Indian adaptation of the popular Pakistani serial “Dhoop Kinare”. Mohnish Behl and Kritika Kamra are the protagonists in the love story of a 40-plus guy and a 20-something girl.
The title of Ekta Kapoor’s “Bade Acche Lagte Hain” is picked up from the song in the 1976 movie “Balika Badhu”, about the arranged marriage of two teenagers, played by Sachin Pilgaonker and Rajni Sharma. The TV show revolves around a business tycoon in his early 40s and a working woman in her late 30s who are brought together by an arranged marriage.
There are many other instances.
“Dekha Ek Khwaab”, has been taken from the evergreen song “Dekha ek khwaab toh yeh silsilay hue” picturised on Amitabh Bachchan and Rekha in the 1981 film “Silsila”. The show is a fairytale story of a young girl who lives in a chawl but is actually a princess.
The title of Star Plus’ new show “Ruk Jana Nahi” is a lift from “Ruk jana nahi tu kahin haar ke” from the 1974 film “Imtihaan” starring Vinod Khanna, while “Diya Aur Bati” is based on the song from Anil Kapoor-Tabu starrer “Viraasat”.
“Sapno Se Bhare Naina” is from Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy’s composition “Sapnon se bhare naina, na neend hai na chaina” from the soundtrack of “Luck By Chance”.
“Iss Pyaar ko Main Kya Naam Doon” is another show that takes its title from a song from Tusshar Kapoor-Kareena Kapoor-starrer “Mujhe Kuch Kehna Hai”.
Remember the popular song “Phoolon ka taaron ka sabka kehna hai, ek hazaaron mein meri behna hai” sung by Dev Anand for his screen sister Zeenat Aman in the film “Hare Rama Hare Krishna”? The heart-warming song has made it to the title of the TV show “Ek Hazaaron Mein Meri Behna Hai”, which is a tale of two sisters and the strong bond they share.
SAB TV’s comedy show “Sajan Re Jhoot Mat Bolo” has been taken from the song “Sajan re jhoot mat bolo, khuda ke pass jana hai” picturised on legendary actor Raj Kapoor in the film “Teesri Kasam”.
Two of the popular Star Plus shows “Sasural Genda phool” and “Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai” are also inspired by the songs from Abhishek Bachchan’s “Delhi-6″ and Tabu-starrer “Meenaxi” respectively.
The list doesn’t end here! Two upcoming shows titles – “Kya Hua Tera Vaada” and “Na Bole Tum Na Maine Kuuch Kaha” – are also inspired by songs. The shows will be aired on Sony and Colors respectively.
“Kya Hua Tera Vaada” marks the comeback of actress Mona Singh in a daily soap after “Jassi Jaisi Koi Nahi”. While “Kya hua tera…” is a song from 1977 film “Hum Kisi Se Kum Nahin”, “Na bole tum..” is a track from 1979 film “Baaton Baaton Mein”.

Yesteryears Bollywood actor Prem Chopra and some others have been booked for defrauding a man in Rajasthan capital Jaipur on the pretext of giving him a role in a film and offering a partnership in a dance and acting school, police said Wednesday.
According to police, the first information report (FIR) was registered at Subash Chowk police station here Tuesday against Prem Chopra and other on a complaint by Waseem Khan, a resident of Ramgarh Road.
Others named in the FIR are Saleem from Saleem Productions, his wife Radha Keshwani, choreographer Sujata Bakshi and Rakesh Pandey.
“Waseem Khan had approached the court of additional chief judicial magistrate and filed a complaint against the accused,” a police officer told IANS.
Waseem alleged that Saleem took money from him saying that he would produce a movie in which he would be given a role, he said.
The police officer said that the complainant alleged that he was also promised that a dance and acting school will be started using his money.
“Waseem alleges that Saleem took him to Mumbai and made him meet Prem Chopra there. Waseen claims to have given a total of Rs.350,000 to the accused,” said the officer.
The complainant alleged that despite the fact that he contacted them several times to start production of the movie and start the dance and acting school, nothing has been done.
The court Tuesday directed the police to lodge an FIR and make an officer not below an assistant commissioner of police the investigating officer in the case.

Anupam Kher is “the most romantic man I ever met in my life”, revealed Kirron Kher at the launch of the actor’s book “The Best Thing About You Is You”.
“He used to be very romantic. He was the most romantic man I ever met in my life… and listening to songs, he would sing them to me rather than listening to them,” the 56-year-old actress said here.
Megastar Amitabh Bachchan launched Anupam’s book and Pritish Nandy was also present at the event.
The actors, who met thanks to their love for theatre, tied the knot in 1985 after Kirron’s separation from her first husband.
Kirron says Anupam has evolved as a partner in last 25 years and added: “Anupam and I started as friends. I remember, every time I went through rough times, emotionally rough times, Anupam would always be there. In fact, Anupam had this strange quality of pulling me out of depression and making me feel much better… and that was not when we were in love, we were just friends.”
The national award winning actress was feted for her performance in Rituparno Ghosh’s “Bariwali” in 1999. Kirron’s last Bollywood appearance was in “Action Replayy” and she also judged the reality show “India’s Got Talent”.
Her notable films include “Sardari Begum”, “Devdas”, French-German production “Khamosh Paani”, “Veer Zaara” and “Rang De Basanti”.

All’s well on the sets of Vikram Bhatt’s “Dangerous Ishq”, says actress Divya Dutta, whose presence is rumoured to have been making Karisma Kapoor insecure about her comeback film.
“What’s this news I read about me and Karisma? Super atmosphere on the sets ya! Wonder why such stories come by! Does no good to anyone! Karisma is going to make a rocking comeback and deservingly so!” Divya posted on her Twitter page.
According to a media report, Karisma is jittery about Divya taking away all the accolades after the film’s release. The report states the rivalry between the two actors began when they competed for the best supporting actress National Award for “Dil To Pagal Hai” and “Train To Pakistan” way back in 1998.
Though Karisma took away the award, she is said to have asked her “Dangerous Ishq” director to show her Divya’s scenes in the film. But with Divya’s clarification on Twitter, all seems to be well.
“Dangerous Ishq”, a 3D venture, marks Karisma return on the big screen after a gap of five years. Essaying the role of a supermodel, she will star opposite model-turned-actor Rajneish Duggal.

Bollywood diva Madhuri Dixit, well-known for her natural acting talent and graceful dancing, is the latest Indian film star to join the A-list line up at London’s Madame Tussauds.
The 44-year-old has already posed in Mumbai for sculptors from the musuem and is expected to unveil her likeness in London in March, according the website of the famed wax musuem. It will cost 150,000 pounds to create and will take a team of sculptors, hair, makeup and wardrobe experts four months to create.
“The decision to include Madhuri is set to delight Bollywood fans around the world as we are constantly inundated with requests to feature Madhuri. Her figure will make a stunning new addition to our Bollywood area which continues to grow in popularity every year,” read the statement.
“With so many awards to her name and a career spanning over 25 years she undoubtedly deserves her place here and we expect huge interest in the figure when she takes up residence next year!” the statement further added.
Madhuri is remembered for her performances in “Tezaab”, “Ram Lakhan”, “Sajan”, “Beta”, “Dil”, “Hum Aapke Hain Koun!”, “Dil Toh Pagal Hai” and “Devdas”. She tied the knot in 2002 with Shriram Madhav Nene, a doctor based out in Denver, US. Post-marriage, Madhuri featured worked in “Aaja Nachle” because she got busy with family and children.
But now she is in Mumbai for good, and excited about the idea of being waxed!
“I am really thrilled I am going to be included at Madame Tussauds. It’s a real mark of achievement and to be recognised for one’s art and work. It’s also wonderful to be following in the footsteps of other Bollywood stars and some of my personal heroes!” said Madhuri in the statement.
To ensure authenticity, Madhuri will be closely involved in the creation process, collaborating with the Madame Tussauds team to agree the pose and even donating a Manish Malhotra sari for her figure to wear. Her hair will flow loosely over her shoulders, styled to show off her long tresses to full effect.
Madhuri’s wax figure will join those of five big names from Indian cinema – Shah Rukh Khan, Aishwarya Rai, Hrithik Roshan, Salman Khan and Amitabh Bachchan.

Shakti Kapoor’s “Bigg Boss 5″ journey will almost come full circle when he will take to the stage with female participants, with whom he entered the reality show back in October.
Shakti had shocked one and all when he became the only male contestant to enter the show with 12 females and one transgender, last year.
According to media reports, Shakti has been asked to stay away from the grand finale in Karjat Saturday following his remarks on the show’s host, Salman Khan.
But if a source from channel Colors is to be believed, the comedy actor will dance on the song “Yamma yamma” with this season’s former female participants like Mandeep Bevli and Raageshwari Loomba.
Post his eviction from “Bigg Boss 5″, Shakti is known to have passed negative comments about Salman, and felt the latter treated him with disrespect. He is also said to have demanded an apology for a statement recently, and hence rumours that Shakti will not be seen at the finale, are doing the rounds.
Actress Pooja Bedi also stated that channel Colors has asked her to stay away from the finale. She has demanded a solid reason from the channel for taking the last minute decision.

Raveena Tandon, who started her career with “Patthar Ke Phool”, says the current lot of actresses are under a lot of pressure to look slim and in the process, are compromising on their health as a result unable to withstand the rigors of the job.
 “After coming to this industry, we actresses face so much pressure to look thin all the time. We are working at erratic hours…we also go through such strict diet plans, it is important to have a strong base,” she said.
“These days we get to hear news of actresses fainting due to dieting or working non-stop for 24 hours or for 36 hours. But touchwood, I have never fainted in my life till now,” the 37-year-old actress added at an event to announce her as the brand ambassador of Seven Seas Cod Liver Oil.
Raveena feels actresses of her generation were a lot healthier as compared to the current crop.
“I did ‘Patthar Ke Phool’ when I was 16 and from that day onwards I have been shooting. That time people were not conscious about their looks to such an extent. We were very healthy back then. Me, Kajol, Manisha (Koirala) — when we had come, we were strong, we looked like we belonged to healthy families,” said the actress last seen in “Bbuddah Hoga Tera Baap”.
Raveena had taken a sabbatical after her marriage to Anil Thadani in 2004 and made a comeback last year with “Bbuddah Hoga Tera Baap”. Now she has signed a couple of projects and is currently shooting for “Gin Liya Aasmaan”.
She will also be seen in “E-dil Sambhal Zara” and “Shovna Seven Nights”. – IANS

Actress Vidya Balan says that she believes in the institution of marriage and cannot avoid it for long, but she is not thinking about it right now.
“My career is going good. I am very happy. Emotionally and mentally I am in a very happy space, by god’s grace. I am not thinking about marriage as of now, but I’m sure a right time will come for it also. I believe in the institution of marriage. I will not ignore it for a longer duration, but yeah, for now, I am keeping it aside. I will definitely get married,” said Vidya.

The actress is said to be dating CEO of UTV movies Siddharth Roy Kapoor.
After the super success of her “Dirty Picture”, Vidya is promoting her forthcoming film “Kahaani”, directed by Sujoy Ghosh. She will also be seen in Nikhil Advani’s “Chand Bhai” opposite Akshaye Khanna.
Vidya admits it’s the greed for good roles that keeps her on her toes.
“I am a very greedy actor. I want to play different people, I want to do different kinds of films. Even if it means that the hero is the protagonist, as long as I have enough to do in the film I am more than happy doing it,” the 33-year-old actress said during the launch of the first look of her new film “Kahaani”.
“I am very happy with the kind of films being made today and that I am getting a chance to work in them. They are appealing to the audience as well, which is most important. Women-oriented films are being made since years, but it is only today that they are tasting success,” Vidya added while sporting a fake baby bump during the launch.
She is not restricting herself to women-oriented films, says the actress who has done films like “Parineeta”, “Ishqiya” and “Paa”.
“I have not made any boundaries or limitations for myself. I have not dictated myself that if the script is women oriented only then I will work in it or anything. If the film is good, if the role is good I will definitely do it,” she said. – IANS
