Japanese Cherry Blossom Photography



Japanese cherry blossom is a deciduous tree, bark is dark brown, smooth; branchlets hairy when young. Leaves ovate elliptic to obovate, long 5-12cm, leaf end urgent acuminate, base rounded to broadly cuneate leaf, leaf margin serrate with fine tip, leaf veins and petioles pubescent. Flowers white to pale pink, diameter 2–3cm, often as a single, slightly fragrant; calyx tube, hairy; pedicel ca. 2cm, pubescent; flowers arranged in a short raceme 3-6. Drupe, globular, black. Florescence in April, leaves and leaf before or simultaneously with opening.
